Space Shuttle Progress

There has been progress on my Space Shuttle. I  mentioned in my previous SS post that it was almost 100% working… well not really.  I had two coils that wouldn’t fire and my ball/credit display was dead.  I troubleshot the issue with the coils for a little while and after ordering the wrong parts from Mouser I finally threw up my arms in disgust and sent the CPU board off to be repaired.  That is the FIRST time I have ever sent anything off for repair.

I sent my CPU over to Rob Anthony (@ www.lockwhenlit.com)  and had him take a look.  Turned out a bunch of ICs were dead.  He fixed me right up!  The game plays 100% but… my credit/ball display is still dead.  Prior to sending my CPU off I bought a new display glass on eBay and that didn’t fix the problem… so it appears my master display is the issue.  I guess I need to fix that huh? :)

The main ramp in my Space Shuttle was in poor shape at the two entrances.  Pieces of plastic missing, extra screw holes, etc.  So after consulting RGP and getting some ideas from Ed Cheung (www.edcheung.com) I started to fix my ramp.  I will post some pics in a separate post but the general idea is to take 2-part epoxy and some fiberglass tape and fix the ramp.  It’s coming out nice so far!
