I put up a video almost a year and a half ago on YouTube demonstrating how to remove mylar from a pinball playfield using freeze spray which is actually canned air held upside down. This particular playfield is from my Twilight Zone project I am currently working on. Removing playfield mylar is not impossible to do but as I have learned over the years can be unpredictable.

Pinball Restoration Tips: Removing Mylar with Freeze Spray

When using freeze spray make sure to go slow and the mylar should just “pop” off the playfield. Sometimes that doesn’t happen which if you followed my Dr Who restoration you would see that the mylar on that playfield didn’t even budge. I usually remove all mylar from my games except for the mylar that came installed from the factory (i.e. between the pop bumpers, some ball drops, etc).

Looking back I can’t believe I didn’t post this a long time ago! I made a video showing how to drill the third magnet hole in a Twilight Zone playfield. When I decided to send out my playfield to be restored I decided to go ahead and drill the third magnet on my playfield. Prototype games were designed to have a third magnet on the playfield and this was dropped from the production games.

Here is the video:

watch?v=d5wYlMoQy-4

I did make two tiny mistakes though… watch the video to see what I did
